Iranian feature ‘Orange Days’ screened in Turkey

Iranian feature ‘Orange Days’ has gone on screen at the 8th edition of the Malatya International Film Festival (MIFF) in Turkey.

Also, a Q&A session was held where the director, Arash Lahouti, answered the questions regarding this film.

‘Orange Days’ is Lahouti’s first cinematic project. The movie was screened in presence of the Malatya's jury, the well-known Turkish film director Nuri Bilge Ceylan and Iranian actor Masoud Rayegan.

Also, Ceylan held a master class in the presence of some 800 filmmakers and foreign guests. He answered questions regarding his filmmaking style during the class.

Ceylan has won the Palme d'Or prize in 2014 for his 'Winter Sleep' movie. His 'The Wild Pear Tree' has also been selected as the Turkish entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars.

In addition, Bahram and Bahman Ark’s short film 'Animal' has been set for screening at International Panorama section of the Turkish event.

Iranian film producer, Mohammad Atebbaei, is on the jury panel at the international platform part of the festival. He is also responsible for international distribution of ‘Orange Days’.

'Orange Days' tells the story of Aban, the only female contractor in the cutthroat and male-dominated orange harvesting industry, who enters a competition to win a large contract. She wins the deal putting her own house at risk by using it as security.

Now, she leads a group of female workers who work for her on a large harvest. Her efforts of staying strong in this patriarch society remain futile while anyone involved in her story including her husband tries to fail her.

‘Orange Days’ has already attended a number of international film events such as the 2018 Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, the 2018 Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival in Germany, the Calgary International Film Festival in Canada, the São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, and the 2018 Torun International Film Festival in Poland.

A number of Iranian superstars, including Hediyeh Tehrani, Ali Mosaffa and Mehran Ahmadi are among the cast members of the flick.

The MIFF is aimed at promoting significant works in the contemporary world cinema and tries to make Malatya as a meeting point between filmmakers and local audience.

Organized by Metropolitan Municipality of Malatya, the 8th edition of the MIFF has been slated for November 9-15, 2018, in the Turkish city.
